In case you missed the sneak peek, here it is.
I was so excited when Victor contacted us about a "Trash the Dress" session! I don't understand why more brides don't have one of these. It makes no sense to wear such a beautiful gown one time and then to package it up in a box or hang it up in your closet never to be worn again...in my opinion. Some like to save their gown for their daughter. But really, what are the chances your daughter is going to want to wear your gown? Slim to none. The same goes for bridesmaid dresses. I'd rather wear that beautiful gown or beautiful (or ugly!) bridesmaid dress one more time and do something crazy in it - that way I can hang those fun images on my wall and remember that dress in a totally different way. I plan on having my own trash the dress session and I already know how I want it...in wildflowers, around old barns, and if we can, get a horse or two in some shots.
Adriana and Victor were such great sports! They were up for anything. We ended the day in the ocean and I couldn't have asked for a better time - we were all soaked!
I have more images, but these are some of my favorites. Check out some great images on Al's blog too! He'll have more later.

Here comes the bride...part two!
There wasn't supposed to be a part two, but as I was editing some of Jen's images to give her, these just made me smile...so I thought I'd post them.
Stay tuned sometime this weekend or next week for some Trash the Dress images!!
After Ali's toast to Jen and Jay:
Some more crazy toilet paper wedding gown moments:

Everyone knows how much I love shots of feet - whether in shoes, bare, or in sand...weird, I know. But the other type of shot I love is when people are taking pictures. I just love capturing them capturing something.
One of my favorites. Again...Congratulations to Jen and Jay...we will see you in May!! :)

Here comes the bride...
well, in May anyway. :)
We celebrated my cousin's upcoming wedding with a bridal shower today. You might remember her from this post and this post. It was a nice time and we are looking forward to helping her document her special day in May. I remember her when she was a little girl...it's hard to believe she's getting married. Time really does fly.
Anyone for a mimosa? ;)
Jen listening to Ali (her soon-to-be sister-in-law) make a toast to Jen and Jay.
As you know, you have to play the "make a wedding gown out of toilet paper" game at every bridal shower. Lots of laughs during this time.

My cousin Lana will probably kill me for posting this image, but this is how she always is (without the crazy headband though ;)) she always has a big smile for everyone.
These ladies were S-E-R-I-O-U-S about this toilet paper gown. I must say it came out quite nice - they even said they'd think about selling their line to Target. :)-
I think the gift that Jen's mom gave her summed up the day...and life. Here's to wishing Jen and Jay lots and lots of breath-taking moments. :)

Happy 2 Months, Baby Girl!
Dear Riley Grace,
So much has changed from month one to month two. Life seems a little easier - at least for me it has, I hope it has for you too. I am now starting to understand your cries and your little quirks and you are starting to sleep hours at a time...which makes Mommy very happy! I won't sugar coat things - there are still days where I feel overwhelmed and wonder what I got myself in to, but they are few and far between. My heart seems to feel more and more love for you with each passing day.
This week Daddy and I tried to get beach shots of you with the sunset in the background, but it was too cold. I'm including one of those photos in this post just so I can remember what a crazy time Daddy and I were having trying to pull it off. It makes me smile now when I think about it. I can't wait for the day when you can sit up on your own - you have no idea about all the crazy photo sessions that I have planned in my head! :)- But when you are able to sit up, there will probably be a side of me that is sad that you are getting bigger. It's hard to believe it has already been two months.
You are such a good baby, Riley Grace. This week I had to go for my post-delivery check up and because of some emergencies at the doctor's office, you had to wait with me for about two hours. You just looked around, napped, fussed every now and then, but for the most part you were very content. I was so thankful. Today we had your first batch of immunizations. I was dreading this day, but again, you were such a good baby. You cried and screamed during the shots, but as soon as I picked you up, you calmed down. I had tears in my eyes at the end of the shots, but the nurse said, "It's OK...they're our babies." When I had to lay you on the table again to dress you, you started crying, but then calmed down again when I put you in your car seat. It was awful to see you uncomfortable at the doctor's office so when we got home and after I fed you, I just held you for the longest time. I had read the worst about how babies can be after immunizations, but not you...you were so good today. We are so blessed...God is so good.
Things I'd like to remember (and for you to know) down the road:
* I always introduce you as "Riley Grace" when someone asks me what your name is. I'm going to continue to do that and when you get old enough to talk, I'm going to let you choose if you want Riley or Riley Grace when being introduced. I hope you choose Riley Grace.
* I love the little birthmarks you have on the back of your head and neckline and I hope they never fade or go away.
* I love the way you wrinkle your brow and purse your lips when you are stretching after waking up.
* I love the way your shoulders go up to your neck when Daddy tickles you.
* I love the little vein on the side of your forehead. I used to think it was going to burst when you cried - it's almost like your skin is transparent there.
* I love when you start to smile or smirk when you are on the changing table and in a funny mood and I sing, "She's a stinky girl, stinky girl, she's super stinky...yow!"
* I love that you love your baths.
* I love that you don't mind changing outfits just so Grammie can see how you look in a new one that she bought you. :)
I'm sure there are other things that I love that I will remember after I post this, those were just a few...
Happy 2 Months, Baby Girl. I love you to the moon and back.
Mommy

And there you have it...
Here are the entries for this year's contest. I went with the majority on the flower and mailboxes and I think there were a few votes for Roxy. No one voted for the one of Michelle looking in the mirror applying her lipstick, but that is one of my personal all-time favorites, so I had to enter one that I liked too. ;) They don't look sharp in this particular image because my aperture was set at 1.8, but they are all sharp when looking at them in person.
The event is in April sometime...I'll let you know if I place in any category...or not. :)- Thanks to those of you who contributed their opinion...I'll make sure to thank you in my acceptance speech (on my blog), if there is one. ;) LOL
Have a great rest of the week!
