Eeny, meeny, miney, moe..

Our local photography contest is here again. Last year I was lucky enough to place 2nd and 3rd in the "People" category. Although I never plan on placing, it's just fun to enter and attend the ceremony to see all the beautiful photos and what type of images the judges picked as the winners. It's just a fun, local event. Here's where you come in...this year they are allowing contestants to enter 4 images (last year was 3), and since I can't decide, please leave a comment noting your 4 favorites. Top 4 will be entered and we'll see how we do! Thanks for helping!

My new favorite...

taken by my Mom with her new digital camera. She's finally jumped over into the technology age and will now quit throwing away money on disposable cameras. ;) I'm proud of you, Mom. :)

Happy 1 Month Baby Girl!

Baby Girl is one month old today. My mom thinks it's funny that I call her "baby girl". That's my little nickname for her. I do call her Riley Grace as well, but mostly Baby Girl. :)

She's one month today. I heard some crazy advice while pregnant (and we are still getting some crazy advice) and one of the craziest things people told me was "Get your sleep while you can!" I never understood that because it's not like you can bottle sleep and you can't pull it out when you need it. It didn't help me after she was born. If someone asked me for advice I would say, "For me, the first two weeks were brutal. There were many nights where I would just cry out of sleep deprivation, not knowing what to do and basic frustration. But hold on...it gets easier. The next two weeks were "easy" compared to the first two. And you should listen to Darius Rucker's "It won't be like this for long". It's so true." That's the advice I would give.

It has become much easier. And I bond with her a little more each day. Today we had such a great day and I looked at her was sad that she was getting bigger - when two weeks ago I couldn't wait for it! I'll miss this, I know. I need to take it all in each and everyday.

There's been so many times when I've thought of Darius Rucker's song. He wrote it about his kids and although I didn't believe it the first two weeks, it helped pull me through. Al was even caught saying it a few times..."It won't be like this for long..." Now I'm realizing that it won't - and as much as I was grateful for that thought before, I am now saddened these days are going so fast. I've posted the video below. Please take a few minutes and listen to the lyrics. It makes you appreciate each and every day with your little one.

I love you, Baby Girl. Even when you never look at the camera for Mommy. :) Happy One Month. Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with this beautiful, healthy girl.
